Pomegranates are a symbol of good luck and prosperity in many cultures, including Greek and Jewish, and are associated with New Year's celebrations.
In Greece, pomegranates are a traditional New Year's symbol that represent fertility, luck, prosperity, renewal, and regeneration. On New Year's Day, the first person to enter the home, usually the father or grandfather, smashes a pomegranate on the front door. The more seeds that spread, the more good fortune the home will receive in the new year.
This card can also be used for sending to celebrate Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) in autumn. Pomegranates are a traditional fruit eaten on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, to symbolize fertility, abundance, and the 613 commandments of the Torah.
